Hurricane season is well under way. If you live in a storm-prone area, you might want to follow these steps that can help prevent damage to your office equipment when the weather gets nasty.
- If possible, redirect your phone numbers to a line that is more likely to stay in service (such as an out-of-state branch office or answering service).
- Power off your workstations first, then your servers, then your network equipment. If you use a VoIP phone service, your phone system is connected through your Internet service and will not work after you power down your network equipment.
- When you come back to the office after the storm passes through, power up your equipment in the reverse order.
