It almost seemed like the previous IT people were kind of employees of ours that worked on a part-time basis, they were here so much. And getting away from that – you know, we won’t hear or see from them for sometimes weeks on end now. And that really allows us to use our work stations to get work done and that sort of thing. So it was a long process for us that – I kind of look back with that 20/20 hindsight and say, “Gosh, if I had found these folks from the beginning, how much money would I have saved, or how much time would I have saved?” And allowed myself to spend time doing what I do in business, rather than trying to learn another business and educate myself about somebody else’s business. So I would encourage people – I learned a big lesson—pay attention to your IT solutions from the beginning. Make it part of your business plan. “I wasn’t happy with the service we were getting from the company that was supporting our network before CMIT; they were more reactive than proactive. And since most of our business is done online, I didn’t want to have a day where our database, computer network or connection to the Internet was down. The biggest reason I use CMIT is for the peace of mind they give me. Their Marathon service automatically monitors our servers, the logs, and the health of our network 24/7/365 to make sure everything is running properly and to make sure lower-level maintenance on the network is getting done. Plus, there is a live person behind that service that alerts me to anything that isn’t right, and gives me the option to fix it myself or have them fix it. In most cases, it’s worth paying them to do this instead of pulling me away from a more critical project or task, but their flexibility is greatly appreciated. This allows me to focus my time on more strategic projects that help our organization fulfill on our promises to our members. Thanks to CMIT and their Marathon service they provide, the entire burden of computer support has been taken off my back, and I don’t have to worry about security threats or downtime. Now we are getting regular Microsoft updates, virus updates, spyware is being scanned and removed, the temporary files are getting cleaned up, and our backups are being taken care of. It’s really helped speed up our network, our programs run better, and we don’t have the recurring problems that we had in the past. In the past, I would sometimes have to wait for days to get our computer problems fixed; but thanks to CMIT Marathon’s remote support and maintenance, computer problems are fixed instantly, or before I even know we have a problem! “We’ve been enrolled in the CMIT Marathon service for 2-3 months now and I cannot tell you how much time, money, and worry it has saved our association. For a fixed fee, they do all of the day-to-day preventative maintenance, security patches, and backup monitoring that would otherwise require a full-time person to take care of. None of the other IT firms we looked at offered this. All they could provide was the “call us when you have a problem” solution, which is far more expensive and time consuming than the remote service offered by CMIT’s Marathon. When they came on board, they discovered that our backup had not been running for the last month. I was shocked. I thought for sure our backups were fine.
