Does "IT" Have You Frustrated?

Our Priority-

Designing Your "IT" to Work for YOU!

About Us

CMIT Solutions is a nationwide provider of information technology (IT) services and solutions for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). With more than 800 consultants and technicians, CMIT has expertise in nearly all technologies and industries Founded in 1996 in Austin, TX, CMIT Solutions, Inc. has grown into the leading IT solution provider for SMBs. With over 10 years of experience and strong industry partnerships, CMIT Solutions is capable of providing enterprise-level services and products that were previously unavailable to the SMB market. We are a local company with the support of a national network behind us. We focus on making your business run better by understanding your business and technology needs.

Steve Gesing and Wayne Demers own the local office in Andover Massachusetts, providing computer services that growing businesses in the Merrimack Valley area need – security/encryption, troubleshooting, installations, networking, offsite encrypted data backup, disaster recovery and more – all things necessary to ensure you have a safe and stable networking environment. For businesses with 5 to 150 computers, CMIT Solutions also offers a managed service plan. For a fixed monthly fee, the CMIT Marathon managed services plan provides proactive maintenance and technical support for the technology infrastructure of your business – including computers, servers, networks, and printers.

About the Owners:

Steve Gesing (Owner - CEO) and Wayne Demers (Owner - President) were both born and raised in Andover, MA in the Merrimack Valley.  Steve and his wife, Anna, reside in Andover, MA, while Wayne and his wife, Nancy, reside in Exeter, NH with their children Sam and Elizabeth.

Steve and Wayne have a combined 50 plus years of business management and consulting experience. They have joined as partners and established CMIT Solutions of the Merrimack Valley.

Steve has served as a senior executive at major global Financial Services firms. He was an Executive Vice President and National Director of Smith Barney Consulting Group. In that role he was responsible for assisting Financial Advisors in the development of trusted client relationships. The client base with whom Steve consulted was quite diverse. However, many were self employed, successful business owners seeking a partner with whom to share the challenges they faced managing their business and financial matters.

Wayne took over as CEO of a small non-profit organization that had a deficit of $350,000 and transformed it into a thriving operation with revenues in excess of $5 million annually. Wayne also served, by default, as the “IT guy” for the organization. In this role he introduced the use of computers to the organization, designed networks for various sites, and introduced the paperless concept through the use of technology.

Steve has served on various non-profit boards in his community and Wayne founded and continues to run a youth lacrosse program in his community that has introduced hundreds of boys and girls to the game.

About CMIT Solutions of The Merrimack Valley:

CMIT Solutions of the Merrimack Valley provides small and medium sized businesses with strategies and services to overcome the challenges that today’s information technology presents. The goal with each client is to reduce risk, enhance productivity and increase revenue. This is accomplished by working as a trusted advisor and partner with clients offering suitable strategies and business solutions.

More often than not, small and medium sized businesses are forced to use a single individual computer shop or have drafted an employee to become the “computer guy”, which means she/he must drop what they are doing to deal with whatever technology crisis might arise.

Computer technology is constantly changing and becoming more complex. It is also becoming increasingly difficult to guard against more sophisticated viruses, worms, spyware, hackers, and phishing.  CMIT Solutions of the Merrimack Valley can help reduce the risks that these problems present by providing you with a fully staffed national based and locally operated and certified IT department at a reasonable cost.

The first half of 2010 has been one for the record books in many parts of the United States. Tornadoes and floods have devastated larges areas, causing deaths, property damage, and endangering IT operations and the security of data. For instance, in early May, the U.S. Navy Personnel Command offices in Millington, Tenn., were covered in several feet of water, putting IT operations out of business and stopping promotions and personnel transfers across the Navy for days.

After 30 years in corporate IT, Plainview’s Larry Schweitzer was ready for something different and ready to be his own boss.

He achieved half of his objectives.
At 55, Schweitzer was interested in investing in a franchise and thought something in the food business might be a good fit. Browsing at a franchise show on the Island last winter, he checked out a couple of fast food opportunities, but ultimately kept walking.

This interview is part of ITworld's regular "How I Got Here" series which focuses on the career path of successful IT professionals. Paul Okura has successfully navigated two cultures throughout his longcareer in finance, moving deftly between Japan and the United States.

Starting out with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NYU, Paul didn't exactly have the traditional background to become a banker, but the presentation skills he learned while studying film and television in school contributed to his success in finance.

After the third time it happened, she asked, "Last summer when you worked with me in Boulder, did you think I was a man?" He answered "Oh, no, Susan! It's just that I've never had a lady boss before."

A photo on Intel's Facebook page posted today shows a technician working on Telstar 1, the world's first telecommunications satellite, which was launched into orbit in this week in 1962. The 170-pound contraption successfully relayed the first television pictures and telephone calls ever transmitted through space. Telstar facilited the first live...

This has not been a good few weeks for the world of Internet security. Just over a month ago, business-networking site LinkedIn had the passwords of millions of its users posted to a hacker forum.

Today, Yahoo! Inc. confirmed that a file containing what appear to be usernames and passwords for 453,492 accounts had briefly been posted online. However, it appears that it's not just Yahoo...

For many small-business owners, spending time “at the office” is becoming more and more of a luxury. With days spent out on sales calls, networking, running errands, or generally being out-and-about, owners often have limited time for staying on top of day-to-day operations.

Fortunately, recent advances in technology provide powerful methods for staying connected while on-...

Change isn’t always necessarily a bad thing, but if it has a detrimental effect on your ability to communicate, it’s hard to argue that it’s not. Especially when those changes are made without warning and without your permission.

So what is this change? Last week, Facebook summarily decided that its users should be using their @facebook.com address (did you even know you had an @...

"For our [clinical research facility], it was better to have a preventive plan in place so that if something did break, we would be ahead of it, and it wouldn’t break instead of waiting for something to happen and then fix it. So, now CMIT is monitoring everything, and we haven’t had any issues so they can catch the problem before it even happens. "
"CMIT is all about peace of mind, and literally, it doesn't cost you anything because you are saving the money on me working on the computer when I'm losing business. In today's economy, you don't want to be late sending bills out, you've got to be out there because if you start falling behind you're going to see the amount of income drop dramatically. So, Greg and CMIT make us look more...
"Whereas our systems were originally only getting backed up on a monthly basis, CMIT was able to come in and now they are automatically backed up to the server. We had a center in the DFW area that did lose everything. They made a phone call to CMIT, and CMIT was able to restore their data within a couple of hours. We’re monitored on a 24/7 basis, so even if there was something that were to...
"The way CMIT does business is just much more suitable for our type of business environment. We have deadlines and critical schedules to meet, and we need to be moving forward at all times. CMIT provides data on a monthly basis, which allows us to look at trends and be proactive with our decisions and our methods for improving our system. Every time my system improves, that means my efficiency...
"CMIT dealt with my local backup needs so that if I just need to get one specific piece of information, they can actually do it remotely from their office and get my people back and going. If I do have a catastrophic disaster that takes my entire building, I have laptops and everything else that I can have up immediately. I can use my web-based information storage and be back up and running...
"We pride ourselves that we are the company that gives instant customer service. We were getting to a point where it was extremely difficult, and we didn't want to lose our customer base. We wanted to also expand. I said, 'I need somebody to do something to allow us to be the company that we started out to be and to continue and to grow.' CMIT has helped us to do just that.   "
"Since partnering with CMIT, I can now not worry about whether or not my computers are working. I've got backups, monitoring, I can get reports, and I know where I'm having risks and threats. I now can rely on my IT people (CMIT) to take care of my IT problems and to keep that IT system up and running in an appropriate manner. That is something before I couldn't rely on. I now have a system!...
"We didn’t initiate offsite backups in the beginning, but with the start of the hurricane season we said, 'OK guys, we now have this wonderful system, but it's not really complete yet.' We're now able to back up our data, it's safely transported and stored offsite, and it’s all HIPAA compliant. And the NAS device can actually work as our server so we can continue to use our systems and do...
"With other IT service providers, we felt that we only got assistance when we requested it, and we normally came up with any ideas for improvements on our system rather than them. I was not impressed with the service, the communication or the end product at that point. Our experience has really set CMIT and Sue and John who run the show for them here apart from the others. They are more...
"We use large aerial imagery that can sometimes be 30 or 40 GB in size. There would be times that I would wait 30 seconds to a minute and a half for an image to appear. CMIT Solutions helped us rehabilitate the computers on hand, put in a network infrastructure, and put in faster switches. Now, it can be instantaneous to 15 seconds for a map to load. I kind of feel like I'm spoiled!   "
