Theresa Jones holds a 20-year track record of extinguishing IT fires, saving companies millions of dollars, and earning the trust of executives leading some of the world’s largest corporations.

As president of CMIT Solutions of Downtown Austin, Theresa leads a team specialized in preventing and solving information technology problems for a variety of small- and mid-sized businesses. She excels at managing teams and crises diplomatically and values her relationships with clients, who often regard her as a member of their own staff. With a keen sense of business, Theresa helps her clients leverage technology to achieve their larger company objectives.

Some of her clients include business owners whose computer repair technicians failed to solve their problems. For example, one Austin attorney called Theresa after his IT vendor spent numerous billable hours trying unsuccessfully to fix a server problem. The technician then recommended buying a new server but was too busy to help the attorney assemble it. To the attorney’s surprise, Theresa’s team fixed his original server in two hours, enabling him to return his new one and pocket the substantial difference.

Theresa draws from two decades in positions at Fortune 500 companies, including DuPont and Motorola/Freescale Semiconductor, where she proved her ability to react quickly and handle stressful situations. Among her successes:

        Theresa led a team at Motorola/Freescale making technology upgrades and software improvements to eliminate bugs causing downtime. The result was a year-on-year improvement of 40 percent less downtime, saving the company millions of dollars in revenue.

        Theresa led the IT team at Freescale that responded when a major fire caused the transformer to catch fire and go down, resulting in electrical power loss throughout the facility and threatening the company’s data integrity. After executing the disaster recovery plan and working through the night, Theresa and her team restored the facility’s computer systems with no data lost or corrupted.

Theresa is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Womens Chamber of Commerce of Texas, Association for Women in Technology Austin, and Impact Austin.

Theresa earned her bachelor of science degree in computer science from Southern Methodist University. A native Texan, she grew up in the Dallas area and moved to Austin in 1990. She treasures her two awesome teenage boys, Paul and Mark, and enjoys hiking, camping and sports.
