Google Search Tricks - Bonus Edition

We’ve received a good deal of positive feedback from our recent “Google Search Tricks” QuickTips, so we thought we’d share a few more. To view the previous tips, click here and here.

Get stock quotes – To view the most recent stock price for a company, simply enter “stocks:” followed by a space and the ticker symbol.

Search by file type – Google can return search results only of particular file formats by appending “filetype:” and the desired extension after your keyword(s).

Search within a numeric range – Find results within a numeric range by placing two periods (..) between numbers.

View downed websites – If the page you’re trying to access isn’t available, or it’s loading very slowly, you can see what content Google has in its cache for that site. In the search box, enter “cache:nameofwebsite.com”

Find public data – Google will automatically return certain public records in your search results.
